ISA99 New Member Orientation
Welcome to the ISA99 Committee!
Presumably you have found your way to this page because you are considering membership and participation in the committee, or have recently joined the committee. If you are not familiar with standards committees (and ISA committees in particular) then it can be very confusing and difficult to understand "how things work." Our purpose with this page is to help you to get oriented by answering or anticipating some of of your more common questions. Along the way you will also be introduced to some of the associated jargon that you may also find confusing.
So, let's start with some basics. ISA99 is one of many committees operating within the Standards and Practices (S&P) department of the International Society for Automation (ISA). You can find more information about ISA at the society web site. As with all active committees ISA99 has a general web page that describes its scope, purpose and membership. This information is maintained by ISA staff, and typically changes only as new members are added.
This Wiki is part of a larger Sharepoint portal that is maintained by committee members as a tool that helps in the day to day operation of the committee. This includes a document library that contains all of the working documents, meeting notes other working materials.
